In a recent crackdown on the misuse of VIP privileges, Akash Sansanwal, the boyfriend of social media influencer Anjali Arora, famously known as the "Kacha Badam Girl," was arrested by Meerut Police on Sunday, January 25, 2026. The arrest occurred at the Kashi Toll Plaza on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway during heightened security checks in anticipation of Republic Day.
Sansanwal was apprehended while driving a black Scorpio displaying a fraudulent Indian Parliament (ex-MP) sticker. According to reports, when police officers signaled for the vehicle to stop for verification, the driver attempted to evade them by trying to break through the toll barrier. However, the police team successfully intercepted the vehicle.
The arrest was part of a larger operation led by SP City Ayush Vikram Singh and CO Brahmapuri Soumya Asthana, targeting vehicles with unauthorized political or MP stickers. During the operation, police also arrested four other individuals in connection with similar offenses involving two Scorpios and two Thars.
Akash Sansanwal is a digital content creator and Delhi-based businessman with a considerable social media presence. He claims to be the Vice President of the BJP OBC Morcha in Mehrauli, Delhi, and manages several local political social media pages. Sansanwal and Anjali Arora have been in a public relationship since 2021. On New Year's Day 2026, he posted a heartfelt message on social media, calling Anjali his "reason for happiness" and "most beautiful story".
Sansanwal now faces charges including fraud, misrepresentation, and obstruction of justice. He was presented in court on Monday.
