The Indian Film and Television Directors' Association (IFTDA) has strongly condemned the recent firing incident outside Bollywood director-producer Rohit Shetty's Juhu residence, expressing deep concern and demanding swift action. The organization has urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to personally intervene, emphasizing that such events create an unacceptable atmosphere of fear and insecurity within the film fraternity.

In the early hours of Sunday, unidentified assailants discharged multiple rounds outside Shetty's residence, prompting immediate responses from law enforcement. According to police reports, five shots were fired around 12:45 am near Rohit Shetty's multi-story bungalow. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. A security guard on duty alerted Shetty, who then contacted the authorities.

Following the incident, heavy police security was deployed around Shetty's residential building in Juhu. Police and forensic teams secured the premises to conduct a detailed examination. Bullet shells were recovered from the scene, and an FIR has been registered under the Arms Act at the Juhu police station. Senior officers from the city police, zonal units, and the crime branch arrived at the location soon after the firing.

IFTDA's statement read, "The entire film fraternity is deeply shocked and concerned about the safety and well-being of one of the most respected and iconic filmmaker of the Indian entertainment industry". The association expressed confidence that the Mumbai Police will take strict action to identify and apprehend the culprits, ensuring complete protection for Shetty and his family.

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has also reacted to the attack, stating that repeated firing incidents in Mumbai indicate a severe deterioration of law and order in the city. AICWA has urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to order a high-level, time-bound investigation and provide comprehensive protection to the entire Bollywood film industry.

Preliminary investigations are underway, with authorities reviewing CCTV footage from the area to trace the shooters' movements. The ballistics team from the Forensic Science Laboratory has collected evidence from the scene. Police are also recording a detailed statement from Shetty and seeking eyewitness accounts to reconstruct the incident. As of now, the motive behind the attack remains unclear, and police have stated that Shetty had not received any recent threats.

Five suspects have been detained in Pune in connection with the firing case and have been handed over to the Mumbai Crime Branch for further investigation. Additionally, the Mumbai Crime Branch has formed 12 special teams to apprehend suspects involved in the firing incident.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the film industry, prompting increased concerns about the safety and security of Bollywood personalities. The IFTDA and other film organizations are calling for heightened security measures and a thorough investigation to ensure such incidents are not repeated.
