FASTag Annual Pass Sales Soar: 5 Million Users & 50% Increase in Short Distance Journeys.

The FASTag Annual Pass has seen remarkable adoption across India, with the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) announcing that it has surpassed 50 lakh users within just six months of its launch on August 15, 2025. This milestone underscores the increasing preference for seamless and economical travel options on national highways and expressways. The pass has facilitated over 26.55 crore transactions during this period. Approximately 28% of all car transactions on the national highway network are now conducted using the FASTag Annual Pass.

The FASTag Annual Pass, applicable at around 1,150 fee plazas on National Highways and Expressways, eliminates the need for frequent recharges. It involves a one-time payment of ₹3,000 for a year's validity or 200 toll plaza crossings, whichever comes first. This initiative is applicable for all non-commercial vehicles equipped with a valid FASTag.

Region-wise data reveals that Chandigarh leads in Annual Pass usage, accounting for 14% of total transactions nationwide. Tamil Nadu follows with 12.3%, and Delhi with 11.5%. Within the Delhi NCR, the Bijwasan Fee Plaza stands out with approximately 57% of car crossings using the Annual Pass. The Mundaka Fee Plaza in Delhi NCR and the Jhinjholi Fee Plaza in Sonipat both register around 53% of non-commercial vehicle crossings using the pass.

The annual pass can be obtained and activated within two hours through the Rajmargyatra App or the NHAI website, linking it to an existing FASTag account. By paying a one-time fee, users effectively convert unpredictable monthly toll expenses into a fixed annual cost, making it easier for daily commuters to manage their travel budgets. The FASTag Annual Pass is exclusively for private cars and jeeps and was launched on August 15, 2025, to assist daily commuters. As of early 2026, over 42 lakh people had already activated their passes.

The increasing adoption of the FASTag Annual Pass highlights its effectiveness in promoting seamless and economical travel on national highways. It offers certainty, potential savings, and smoother travel experiences throughout the year, without the constant need to recharge FASTags.
