Ladki Bahin Yojana: Correct Your e-KYC Information Before March 31st - Don't Miss Out!

The Maharashtra government has announced an extension for beneficiaries of the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana to correct their e-KYC details. The deadline, initially set for mid-November and then extended, now provides a final opportunity until December 31, 2025, for women to rectify any errors in their electronic Know Your Customer (e-KYC) information.

This move addresses the challenges many beneficiaries, particularly in rural areas, have faced during the digital verification process. Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare has clarified that this is a one-time correction window, and beneficiaries should ensure the accuracy of their information before submission. The department has strongly advised beneficiaries to complete the process well before the deadline to avoid last-minute technical issues.

The e-KYC process is mandatory for eligible women to continue receiving the monthly assistance of ₹1,500 provided under the scheme. Failure to comply with the e-KYC requirements may lead to the suspension of benefits. Launched in June 2024, the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana aims to empower women aged 21 to 65 years with an annual family income below ₹2.5 lakh, who are not enrolled in other similar welfare programs. The scheme promotes financial independence and aims to improve the health, nutrition, and decision-making roles of women within their families.

To ease the burden on some beneficiaries, special relief has been extended to women whose fathers or husbands are deceased. These beneficiaries can complete their e-KYC without providing the Unique Aadhaar ID (UAID) numbers of their deceased relatives, using an updated option on the scheme's official portal.

To complete the e-KYC process, beneficiaries can visit the official Ladki Bahin Yojana website and follow these steps: 1. Click on the highlighted e-KYC link on the homepage. 2. Enter their Aadhaar number and the displayed captcha code. 3. Provide consent for Aadhaar authentication and request an OTP (One-Time Password). 4. Enter the OTP received on their Aadhaar-linked mobile number.

Upon successful submission, the e-KYC status will be updated to "completed".

Minister Tatkare stated that the government took the situation "with utmost seriousness" after beneficiaries reported technical glitches and disruptions. An earlier deadline was extended to December 31st because of these issues. Despite the extension, some women are still facing difficulties, such as not receiving OTPs or receiving no confirmation after uploading details. According to official data, approximately 1.74 crore women out of 2.43 crore enrolled have completed the e-KYC process. Aadhaar-based authentication has been made mandatory to ensure that only eligible women receive the monthly assistance. Authorities have reported that a preliminary check revealed many questionable entries, including around 12,000 cases where men were listed as beneficiaries. Ineligible cases, including women government employees wrongly availing of the benefits, are being identified, and recovery processes will be initiated.

Beneficiaries who missed the December 31, 2025 deadline might see a "Hold" or "Temporary Pause" status on the portal. However, the e-KYC window remains open for reactivation. To reactivate their accounts, beneficiaries can log in and complete the Aadhaar authentication process. Once the system verifies their live status, backdated installments for December and January will be released.
